# How to read a record — U.S. public companies that stopped reporting to the SEC

> What the record is, what the status means, and what is left out.

## How to read these records

### Which companies

Every filer of a Form 15-12G, 15-12B, 15-15D or 15F in the EDGAR quarterly indexes, January 2023 to October 2026, one record per CIK.

### What is not here

Funds, trusts, exchange-traded products, acquisition companies (SPACs), issuers of structured notes and other
structures without staff. Names of officers or any individual. Filings before 2023.

**Did this company stop operating altogether?**

The internal data of a company that employed 50 people or more (Slack or Microsoft Teams archive, documentation, project histories) may still have value after it has stopped operating.

[Check whether this company’s data qualifies →](/pro.md) We are paid by the buyer if a partnership is signed, never by the company. Whether personal data in those archives can be transferred is a legal question for whoever controls them. Not affiliated with the SEC.
